Petya Nedelcheva, Bulgaria, met Xie Xingfang, China (left) in one of the Womens 1/2-finals saturday, and the chinese won as expected, 21-6, 21-9. Homegirl Xu Huaiwen won the other semifinal against Pi Hongyan, France.
Koreans won the Mens Doubles semis: Lee Jae Jin/Hwang Ji Man beat Albertus Susanto Njoto/Yohan Hadikusumo Wiratama, Hong Kong and Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae beat Sigit Budiarto/Fran Kurniawan, Indonesia. The rest of the matches had chinese winners: Mens Singles: Chen Yu beat Wu Yun Yong (also of China), Lin Dan beat Anup Shridhar, India. Womens Doubles: Du Jing/Yu Yang beat Lee Kyung Won/Lee Hyo Hung, Korea and Yan Wei/Zhang Jiewen beat Hwang Yu Mi/Kim Min Jung, Korea. Finally Mixed Doubles: Xu Chen/Zhao Tingting beat David Lindley/Suzanne Rayappan, England and Zheng Bo/Gao Ling beat Lee Yong Dae/Lee Hyo Jung, Korea.
The finals day – sunday – started with a bad message: Yu Chen had suffered an injury, so Lin Dan won the Mens Singles championship on walkover.
The other champions – Womens Singles: Xie Xingfang, China – Mens Doubles: Lee Jae Jin/Hwan Ji Man, Korea – Womens Doubles: Yan Wei/Zhang Jiewen, China and finally Mixed Doubles: Zheng Bo/Gao Ling, China.
