Danish exit

Martin Lundgaard IconMartin Lundgaard (left) and the other danish Men’s Doubles failed to qualify for the finals tomorrow. On the other hand – England got a third finalist in Men’s Doubles and is thus the second best nation after China at these championships.

Anthony Blair/Robert Blair, England, fought at tough 3 games-match. The danes controled most of the 2. game and the first part of the 3., but in the end they were overrun by a barrage of well placed shot from the englishmen. Score 23-21, 17-21, 21-17. In the other Mens Doubles, Fu Haifang/Cai Yun, China won the decider in the first game against Jens Eriksen/Martin Lundgaard, and the danes did not recover – 23-21, 21-18.

Germans may feel the same disappointment as the danes. They had Petra Overzier and Xu Huawn in the semifinals – but both lost – and tomorrows Womens Singles will be another all chinese match between Zhang Ning and Xie Xingfang.

Same story with the Men’s Singles. Bao Chunlai eliminated Lee Hyun Ii, Korea, while Lin Dan beat compatriot Chen Hong.
